Job summary

SILVERLINK TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced database administrator to provide expert support and administration for Sybase ASE and PostgreSQL databases.

You will ensure high availability, performance tuning, and issue resolution across production environments while collaborating with multiple teams to drive service improvements. You will lead incident resolution, manage capacity planning, and participate in transformation projects.

Qualifications

• Experience in production server environments.
• Unix and Linux operating systems experience preferred.

Job Summary

You will provide expert technical support and administration for Sybase ASE and PostgreSQL databases, ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and issue resolution. You will collaborate with teams to drive service improvements and support transformation projects.

Responsibilities

• Execute technical tasks and support daily BAU activities, incidents, and RFCs within your expertise
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues collaboratively with your team
• Propose and implement service improvements for Sybase and PostgreSQL database environments across the organization
• Maintain database system infrastructure availability and reliability proactively and reactively, aligned with SLA requirements
• Lead resolution efforts during high severity incidents within your technical scope
• Review technology changes to identify and mitigate potential risks
• Understand the global IT structure to anticipate interdependencies and impacts
• Collaborate with technical peers, development teams, service managers, architects, and project teams on technology roadmaps and projects
• Facilitate transformation projects and recommend future improvements and enhancements
• Ensure production readiness of database systems
• Drive technical resolution of complex or high severity incidents within your role’s scope
• Research and evaluate new technologies and trends for potential integration into bank operations
• Perform backup and restore operations for Sybase and PostgreSQL databases
• Tune databases and application queries to optimize performance and manage server access and login controls
• Troubleshoot and resolve database integrity issues and perform performance tuning
• Manage database installations, upgrades, and patching for Sybase ASE and PostgreSQL environments
• Provide application DBA support and debugging for BAU issues
• Administer Sybase ASE 15.x and PostgreSQL 12.x (and above) databases, including replication and clustering configurations
• Manage schema objects, partitions, and database maintenance tasks such as index management and DBCC operations
• Plan and manage capacity for the entire Sybase and PostgreSQL database estate
• Perform OS-level activities related to database tasks on Unix/Linux systems
• Manage logs and scheduled jobs using Control-M or similar scheduling tools
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible, database scripting, and shell scripting

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Experience working in production server environments
• Unix and Linux operating system experience is desired
