Job summary

Wellsmart Group in Singapore seeks an experienced procurement specialist to own the end-to-end material sourcing for construction projects in Australia and New Zealand, with China as the supplier base. You will manage quotes, negotiate terms, monitor shipments, and coordinate with site teams on delivery timelines.

Ideal candidates have 3–6 years in procurement or trade, strong Mandarin for supplier negotiations, knowledge of Incoterms, and willingness to travel to China a few times yearly.

Qualifications

• Experience buying from China and exporting.
• Bachelor's degree; based in Singapore; able to travel to China.
• Fluent Mandarin for daily factory negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Source construction materials in China against project BOQs and drawings.
• Get at least three quotes, negotiate, and set contract and payment terms.
• Chase every order to the end: samples, production, inspection, loading.
• Book freight, prepare export/import documents and work with AU/NZ customs brokers.
• Plan deliveries with site managers and keep them informed.
• Handle shortages, damage, warranty and late-delivery claims until they are closed.
• Run supplier WeChat groups and confirm agreed numbers by email or PO the same day.

About the role

Wellsmart Group develops and builds resort and residential projects in Australia (Lindeman Island, Queensland) and New Zealand (Queenstown). We need one person to own the entire supply chain for construction materials from China - from the first quotation to the last claim.

Key responsibilities

• Source construction materials in China (rebar, conduit, MEP, doors/windows, tiles, sanitaryware, hardware) against project BOQs and drawings
• Get at least three quotes, negotiate, and set contract and payment terms
• Chase every order to the end: samples, production, inspection, loading
• Book freight, prepare export/import documents and work with AU/NZ customs brokers - including the barge leg to Lindeman Island and the inland leg to Queenstown
• Plan deliveries with site managers and keep them informed
• Handle shortages, damage, warranty and late-delivery claims until they are closed
• Run supplier WeChat groups on the company account; confirm agreed numbers by email or PO the same day

About you

• 3-6 years in procurement or trade, with at least 2 years buying directly from China-based suppliers and exporting
• Construction, real estate or hotel project background - you have bought materials during the build or fit-out phase
• Fluent written and spoken Mandarin - required for daily factory negotiation
• Working knowledge of shipping documents and Incoterms
• Daily use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude or similar) in your work
• Bachelor's degree; based in Singapore; able to travel to China a few times a year
