Job summary

Tao Nan School seeks a Student Well-being & Behavioural Support Officer to provide emotional, social and behavioural support to primary students needing guidance. You will deliver individual support, monitor well-being, assist with crises, and work with staff, parents and external agencies.

The role emphasizes empathy, confidentiality, and collaboration with Year Heads, Counsellors and the Discipline Mistress to foster a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Education or related discipline.
• Strong empathy and interpersonal skills.
• Good communication and active listening skills.
• Able to remain calm and composed handling challenging student situations.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line support to students.
• Provide one-to-one pastoral support to students experiencing anxiety or distress.
• Use active listening, de-escalation strategies to manage situations.
• Build trusting relationships and maintain a safe, confidential environment.
• Promote positive coping strategies and resilience.
• Identify and monitor at-risk students and conduct regular check-ins.
• Collaborate with Year Heads, School Counsellors and Discipline Mistress.
• Maintain accurate confidential records of incidents and progress.
• Respond promptly to crises and provide immediate emotional support.
• Plan and support SEL and peer-support programmes.
• Engage with parents/guardians and coordinate with external agencies when needed.
