Job summary

Pei Hwa Secondary School seeks a Student Support Officer to assist the Student Management Team in promoting the wellbeing of at-risk students and those with disciplinary or attendance concerns.

You will conduct case management, monitor attendance, run reintegration programmes and provide regular social-emotional support. This role requires collaboration with teachers and counsellors to develop intervention plans and maintain confidential records.

Qualifications

• Should preferably have a certification or diploma in social work, counselling, psychology or related fields.
• Should preferably have accreditation in restorative practices.
• Should preferably have at least 2 years of working experience in counselling, social work or working with youths.

Responsibilities

• Support student case management, including locating students, fact-finding and preliminary investigations.
• Manage students under detention, in-school suspension, reintegration programmes and time-out arrangements.
• Monitor latecomers and student attendance, and maintain relevant records.
• Conduct school patrols to monitor student behaviour and identify students who may require additional support.
• Engage, mentor and provide social-emotional support to students through regular check-ins.
• Guide students in emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, resilience and life skills.
• Support students with behavioural, emotional or social concerns and elevate concerns where necessary.
• Develop and facilitate engagement activities for targeted students.
• Work with teachers, school counsellors and other school personnel on student cases and intervention plans.
• Maintain accurate records of student cases, counselling activities, interventions and disciplinary matters.
• Assist with data entry, discipline statistics and other admin duties related to student management.
• Support communication with students through appropriate digital platforms where required.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with school policies on student records.
• Perform other student management, administrative and operational duties as assigned.
