Job summary

TÜV SÜD Singapore seeks an experienced Lift & Escalator Inspection Specialist to support ASEAN growth. You will oversee PTO applications, assess lifts and escalators for safety and compliance, and lead a team of inspectors on site.

The role requires professional engineer registration, risk-based assessment knowledge, and ability to stay updated with international standards. You will contribute to safety, quality and sustainability in a dynamic Real Estate and Infrastructure division.

Qualifications

• Registered as Specialist Professional Engineer (Lift & Escalator) in Singapore.
• Knowledge of risk-based assessment.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical control technology for lifts.
• Physically fit for high-risk lift and escalator inspections.
• Strong teamwork and independent thinking.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the examination, inspection and testing of a lift or escalator for the PTO application or renewal.
• Conduct professional assessment of lifts/escalators: conformity with standards, maintenance quality, safety and performance.
• Assess on-site technical documentation and lift status including wear and tear, defects and safe usage.
• Identify business opportunities and potential leads through day-to-day work.
• Lead a team of LEI in the execution of inspections for PTO certificates.
• Ensure SAC 17020 requirements for inspection processes are applied.
• Stay updated on international and local lift and escalator standards and regulations.
• Participate in strategy and process reviews to optimize inspections.
• Train Lift & Escalator Inspectors as required.

You will be part of the technical expert team of our Lift & Escalator Inspection Services under Real Estate and Infrastructure Division in ASEAN to support TÜV SÜD ASEAN growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the examination, inspection and testing of a lift or escalator for the application for or renewal of a Permit to Operate (PTO) certificate.
• Conduct professional assessment of lifts and escalators in the following areas:
  • conformity with applicable standards and regulations;
  • maintenance quality (audits according to EN13015); and
  • safety and performance.
• Conduct assessment of technical documentation and lift status on site such as with respect to degradation, detection of defects or weaknesses in the system, and ensuring the continued safe use of system including but not limited to: use/ misuse, function, safety principles, operation, defects and consequences for use and inspection, wear and tear, fatigue, lifetime aspects, maintenance residual risks, warnings, instructions for the user etc.
• Identify business opportunities and potential leads through the day-to-day work.
• Lead a team of LEI in the execution of the lift and escalator inspections for PTO certificate.
• Conduct other assessment services as may be required by the applicable regulations relevant to a Lift and Escalator inspection firm.
• Understand and apply the requirements of the SAC 17020 requirements for the inspection process.
• Constantly keep updated on the international and local lift and escalator standards and regulation requirements to ensure full compliance for inspections and related services.
• Participate in strategy and process review with management to ensure the most efficient process for lift and escalator inspection to achieve the required operational results.
• Train Lift & Escalator Inspectors (LEI) as and when required to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their tasks.

Key Requirements

• Registered as Specialist Professional Engineer (Lift & Escalator) with Professional Engineers Board of Singapore
• Satisfactory knowledge of risk-based assessment
• Knowledge in electrical and mechanical control technology for lift
• Demonstrated physical and mental fitness required for high-risk lift and escalator inspections
• Strong team player with independent thinking
