About the role
We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Site Engineer to manage day-to-day site operations across building construction, Addition & Alteration (A&A), industrial, and conversion projects. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising site activities, coordinating multiple subcontractor trades, ensuring strict compliance with quality and WSH safety standards, and keeping projects on schedule. The ideal candidate is an agile problem-solver who can run site operations independently, liaise effectively with consultants, and drive project progress on the ground.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day site works to ensure strict adherence to approved architectural, structural, and M&E drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Conduct site measurements and inspect completed works to ensure compliance with BCA/authority regulations and client specifications.
- Identify site defects, coordinate immediate rectification works, and track resolution through to project handover.
- Prepare daily site reports, log progress photos, and maintain accurate records of site manpower and material deliveries.
- Coordinate, sequence, and manage works across multiple trades and subcontractors (structural, M&E, interior fit-out, façade, etc.).
- Enforce quality and safety standards firmly while resolving interpersonal or technical friction with subcontractors.
- Assist the Quantity Surveyor (QS) team by taking site measurements and verifying work completion against subcontractor progress claims.
- Act as the key point of contact on-site for consultants (Architects, C&S, and M&E Engineers) regarding site queries, Requests for Information (RFIs), and Site Instructions (SIs).
- Monitor project progress against master schedules, anticipate potential bottlenecks, and flag potential delays early to project management.
- Enforce site safety compliance in accordance with the WSH Act, permit-to-work (PTW) systems, and risk management guidelines.
About you
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building, or Construction Management.
- 2 to 5 years of hands-on site experience in building construction, A&A, industrial buildings, or dormitory conversion projects.
- Proven track record of running works independently on-site (not solely acting in an assistant capacity to a Project Manager).
- Hands-on experience coordinating structural, M&E, and architectural works simultaneously.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference architectural, structural, and M&E engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of local building regulations, BCA codes, and fire safety requirements.
- Basic AutoCAD skills for marking up redline drawings and as-built changes.
- Solid understanding of construction methods for A&A, reinstatement, and industrial building works.
- Strong decision-making capability to address unexpected site conditions promptly.
- Ability to direct and manage diverse subcontractor teams while upholding standards.
