Job summary

Thome Ship Management Pte Ltd is seeking a Senior Vessel Manager to lead day-to-day operations of the assigned fleet from Singapore. You will ensure safe, compliant, and cost-efficient performance in line with ISM/ISPS/MLC and customer expectations.

You will act as the main conduit between vessel senior management and shore-based support, oversee budgeting, crewing, inspections, and audits, and coordinate dry docks and vessel modifications, driving continuous improvement across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Higher education in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related field.
• Senior vessel manager experience in shore-based shipping company (minimum 3 years preferred).
• Vessel Manager: minimum 1 year experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, and vetting requirements.
• Proven leadership and multi-disciplinary team management.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control, and procurement.
• Excellent communication with owners, charterers and internal teams.
• Experience on LPG/LNG/chemical tankers essential for assigned fleet.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of assigned vessels to ensure safe, compliant and cost-effective performance.
• Serve as primary operations contact between vessel senior management and shore-based support.
• Monitor inspections by class, flag, port state and third parties; ensure timely deficiencies rectification.
• Oversee crewing decisions and evaluate senior officers.
• Develop and control the vessel's annual operating budget and support procurement.
• Coordinate dry dockings, repairs and vessel modifications within cost and schedule.
• Support audits and pre-vetting preparations; follow up on findings.
• Contribute to emergency response as part of crisis management and coordinate drills.
• Ensure safety, environmental and operational KPIs; monitor risk and drive improvements.
• Conduct vessel visits, track maintenance, address deficiencies, and prepare reports.
• Liaise with owners, charterers and external parties to ensure satisfaction and transparency.
• Assist Fleet Manager with additional duties to boost fleet performance.
