Job summary

Thome Ship Management Pte. Ltd is seeking a Senior Vessel Manager to lead day-to-day operations of assigned vessels in Singapore.

You will coordinate with owners, charterers, and shore teams to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective performance in line with ISM, ISPS, MLC and SOLAS standards. The role requires maritime education and leadership experience, with a track record in budgeting, vetting, and vessel management; prior service on LPG/LNG/chemical tankers is highly valued for this

Qualifications

• Higher education in naval architecture or marine engineering.
• Maritime education with chief engineer/nav officer background advantageous.
• Senior Vessel Manager: 3+ years in shore-based shipping helps.
• Vessel Manager: 1+ year shore-based experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class and vetting rules.
• Proven leadership in vessel operations and multi-disciplinary teams.
• Experience in budgeting, cost control, and procurement processes.
• Excellent communication with owners, charterers and internal teams.
• Experience on LPG/LNG/chemical tankers beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of assigned vessels for safe, compliant, cost-effective performance.
• Act as primary contact for vessel operations, aligning vessel management with shore support.
• Monitor class/flag/port state inspections; rectify deficiencies and prepare for audits.
• Supervise senior officers; support crewing decisions and onboard leadership.
• Develop and control the vessel budget; manage costs, procurement, and invoices.
• Coordinate dry dockings, repairs, and vessel modifications per specs and schedules.
• Support internal/external audits and pre-vetting activities; address findings promptly.
• Contribute to emergency response as part of crisis management team; drills and follow-up.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and operational KPIs; mitigate risks.
• Conduct vessel visits, track maintenance, and prepare operational reports.
• Liaise with owners, charterers and external parties to ensure satisfaction and transparency.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by Fleet Manager to support fleet goals.
