Job summary

DIRECT SEARCH ASIA PTE. LTD. is seeking an experienced Technical Superintendent (Chief Engineer) to manage day-to-day operations on PCTC vessels in Singapore.

You will oversee dry dockings, maintenance planning, budgeting, and cost control, while ensuring compliance with IMO regulations and class requirements. Applicants should have a Class I CoC or a marine engineering degree, plus 3–5 years in a supervisory ship management role.

Qualifications

• Class I Certificate of Competency or a degree in Marine Engineering.
• 3–5 years as Technical Superintendent for PCTC, Ro-Ro, or similar vessels.
• Sailing experience as Chief Engineer is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of PMS, dry docking, budgeting, and procurement.
• Good understanding of IMO regulations, ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, Class/Flag requirements.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day technical operations of assigned PCTC vessels.
• Plan and oversee dry dockings, repairs, maintenance, and major projects.
• Monitor vessel performance, maintenance schedules, and operating costs.
• Prepare and manage vessel budgets, repair estimates, and expenditure.
• Ensure compliance with Class, Flag State, ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company requirements.
• Conduct vessel inspections and provide technical support to Masters and Chief Engineers.
• Liaise with shipyards, classification societies, suppliers, and service providers.
• Investigate defects and machinery failures, implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure technical documentation and reports are maintained accurately.
