Job summary

Workato is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Go) to design, build, and maintain Go microservices within the Platform team, delivering reliable, scalable software across the enterprise.

You will collaborate with Infra and SRE, implement APIs, caching, and messaging, and contribute across the full development lifecycle. 5+ years in software engineering with 2+ years Go backend experience are required. Strong debugging and ownership mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2 years of Go backend development.
• Experience with distributed systems and solid understanding of core web application building blocks.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices.

Our platform is a large-scale system combining a Ruby on Rails monolith with a growing ecosystem of Go microservices. In this role, you will build and maintain business logic and enterprise-grade features for the Workato platform, including on-premise features, authentication, caching, work queuing, and APIs. You will also be expected to:* Design, build, and maintain Go microservices with a focus on correctness and reliability.* Implement business logic and enterprise-quality standards across the platform.* Collaborate with Infra and SRE teams to ensure high availability and scalability requirements are met.* Contribute across all phases of the development lifecycle.* Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.* Evaluate and propose improvements to existing systems.Required* 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering.* Solid experience with Go on the backend (2+ years).* Good debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.* Understanding of core building blocks of web applications: databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, monitoring, etc...* Experience working with distributed systems.* Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.Nice to Have* Experience with Ruby on Rails.* Experience building B2B systems.* Experience in related fields (DevOps, ML, DBA, Enterprise applications, etc.).* Experience with third-party REST APIs at scale (request throttling, batch processing, etc.).* Contributions to open-source projects.Soft Skills / Personal Characteristics* Readiness to work with teams distributed across multiple timezones.* Strong spoken and written English.* Curiosity and openness toward new technologies; willingness to experiment.* Ownership mindset - comfortable taking features from design through to production and maintenance.REQ ID: 2423
