Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key Quant contact for JERAGM Americas, supporting Front Office commercial activity and Middle Office risk, valuation and control in the US timezone.
  • Provide quantitative support for deal structuring, valuation and commercial decisions across US pipeline gas, gas storage, and US power assets.
  • Develop, review and enhance valuation models and risk analytics used for trading support and independent valuation oversight.
  • Coordinate with the Singapore HQ Quant team to align US modelling with global standards.
  • Communicate valuation results and drivers clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support validation and documentation of valuation methodologies and controls for the Americas portfolio.
  • Share technical knowledge and help develop quantitative capabilities across JERAGM Americas.

RESPONSIBILITIES
PositionDescription

This role forms part of JERA's growing North American Gas Trading business, which is expected to transition onto JERAGM’s trading platform. This business is wholly owned by JERA Co., Inc. and will focus on US natural gas trading,optimisationand market development across North America. Successful candidates will join during the build-out phase ahead of the business's planned operational launch.

The Models and Valuation group is a centre ofquantitativeexpertisefor JERAGM. The group has a broad capability in a wide area of commercial modelling and decision support. This includes deal structuring and valuation, financial engineering,optimisationand decision support analysis.The group gets involved in a wide range of areas across the business supporting both the Front Office and Middle Office functions.

The Senior Quantitative Analystis a senior individual contributorand thekey Quant contactdedicated toJERAGM Americas.The role is a hybrid Front Office and Middle Office Quant position, providing commercialvaluation, dealmodellingand structuring analysistoAmericas stakeholders, whilealso supporting risk,governanceand control requirements in coordinationwith the Singapore HQQuant team.The successful candidate willbringstrong US pipeline gas and US power plant market knowledge, togetherwith hands-onvaluationexpertiseacross physical and financial energy products.

Key Role Responsibilities
  • Serve as the key Quant contact for JERAGM Americas, supporting both Front Office commercial activity and Middle Office risk,valuationand control processes in the UStimezone.
  • Provide quantitative support for deal structuring, valuation and commercial decision-making across US pipeline gas, gas storage, US power plant/VPP and related structured physical and financial transactions.
  • Develop,reviewand enhance valuation models, market parameter methodologies and risk analytics used for both trading support and independent valuation oversight.
  • Work closelywith the Singapore Quant team to align Americas modelling approaches with globalmethodology, modelgovernanceand control standards.
  • Communicate valuation results, assumptions, commercialdriversand risk impacts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support independent review, validation and documentation of valuation methodologies,assumptionsand controls for the Americas portfolio.
  • Share technical knowledge with colleagues and help build quantitative understanding across JERAGM Americas and the wider Quant function.
QUALIFICATIONS
Key Qualifications and Experience
Experience Required
  • Significant experiencein quantitative valuation, risk management or structuring within a commodity trading company, utility, investmentbankor comparable energy-market environment.
  • Experience supporting both commercial/front-office valuation needs and middle-office valuation,riskor control requirements.
  • Strong practical knowledge of US pipeline gas markets, including transportation, basis, storage,optionalityand physical/financial deal structures.
  • Strong knowledge of US power markets and power plant economics, including generation optionality, heat rates, spark spreads,dispatchand VPP valuation.
  • Proven ability to value structured commodity transactions, build robust valuation models, estimatevaluationand hedge parameters, and explain commercial risks clearly.
  • Strong understanding of the deal life cycle for option-style and structured transactions, including deal assessment, booking, model implementation, controlreviewand expiry processes.
  • Experience designing and implementing quantitative solutions that meet business, valuation,riskand control requirements.
  • Experience sharing technical knowledge and supporting colleague development is desirable.
TechnicalExpertise
  • Advanced knowledge of financial derivatives and option theory as applied to commodity markets, including:
  • Stochastic price processes;
  • Parameter estimation; and
  • Valuation techniques, including closed-form and Monte Carlo methods.
  • Good working knowledge of Value at Risk methodologies and related risk measures.
  • Understanding of mathematical optimisation techniques used in portfolio analysis, assetoptimisationand fundamental modelling.
  • Strong programming capability in development and scientific languages such as Python, including NumPy and pandas.
  • Experience using or deploying solutions to cloud platforms such as Azure would be helpful.
  • Advanced Excel& VBAcapability is expected.
