JERA Global Markets is seeking a detail-oriented accountant to support the financial operations of its US Gas business. The role focuses on timely month-end closing, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

The candidate will maintain books, perform monthly closings, reconcile to trading systems, and prepare reporting packages, while collaborating with other departments to uphold compliance and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CA or equivalents).
  • 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 5 years in a commodity trading company and/or in Big 4 accounting firm with a focus on the audit of commodity trading firm is desired.
  • Strong technical understanding of mark-to-market accounting in the commodity trading business is preferred.
  • Positive, conscientious, hands-on, and self-driven. Enjoy working in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the financial books and records in accordance with financial reporting standards and statutory requirements.
  • Perform and monthly closing process to ensure accurate and timely group and statutory reporting.
  • Perform reconciliation of accounting to trading systems to ensure the accuracy of accounting ledger.
  • Prepare the monthly/quarterly financial reporting packages, and annual financial statements in accordance with the financial reporting standards.
  • Support audit and review process by external auditors and the internal control/audit team.
  • Support Group Finance Controller/Financial Controller on ad-hoc duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve the overall JERAGM's goals and objectives.
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with trading and accounting standards and other compliance requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This role forms part of JERA's growing North American Gas Trading business, which is expected to transition onto JERAGM's trading platform. This business is wholly owned by JERA Co., Inc. and will focus on US natural gas trading,optimisationand market development across North America. Successful candidates will join during the build-out phase ahead of the business's planned operational launch.

We areseekinga detail-oriented and proactive accountant tosupportingthe financial operations of our US Gas business. The primary focus of this role is to ensuretimelyandaccuratemonth-end closing, financialreportingand compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

Key Role Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS
Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent professional qualification (e.g.CPA, ACCA,CAor its equivalents)
  • 7 years of relevant working experience with at least 5 years in a commodity trading company and/or in Big 4 accounting firm with a focus on the audit of commodity trading firm is desired

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and able to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and various levels within the organization
  • Experience with SAP or Sun/Horizon systems is a plus.
  • System savvy and proficient in Microsoft Excel
