Job summary

SingHealth Integrated Pathology Services (SIPS) invites applications for a Senior Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist to provide expert scientific, operational, and technical leadership across the SingHealth cluster.

Reporting to the Senior Assistant Director, you will harmonise laboratory practices, support health screening programmes, and advance digital pathology adoption across institutions in Singapore.

Qualifications

• PhD, MSc or Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or related disciplines, with at least 12 years of relevant experience.
• Strong technical expertise in pathology disciplines (haematology, transfusion medicine, histopathology, clinical chemistry, molecular pathology, or microbiology).
• Experience with laboratory quality management and accreditation frameworks such as CAP or ISO 15189/SAC-SINGLAS.
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills, with familiarity with LIS/EMR systems.
• Proactive individual with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across diverse teams and institutions.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert leadership in laboratory standards, technical governance, and operational practices across SingHealth institutions.
• Lead the cluster-wide integration of blood bank laboratory services, including alignment of testing platforms, workflows, and quality systems built on WellSky LIS and EPIC NGEMR platforms.
• Provide scientific and operational leadership for laboratory services supporting population health and health screening programmes, including assay validation, workflow optimisation, and performance monitoring.
• Contribute scientific and operational input to new and expanded pathology service development, including demand-capacity analysis and workload studies.
• Support the digital pathology roadmap, facilitating workflow redesign, data integration, and capability development for clinical and operational teams.
• Develop competency frameworks, training roadmaps, and succession plans for specialist technical tracks.
• Provide input for capital equipment planning, platform evaluation, and resource optimisation.
