Job summary

GMP Technologies is seeking a seasoned L2 Database Administrator (PostgreSQL/Sybase) to serve as the highest level of technical escalation. The role involves managing incidents, changes, and problem resolution, plus leading task delegation and knowledge sharing across the team.

The ideal candidate has 6–8 years of hands-on PostgreSQL and Sybase experience in production, a degree in IT/CS, and strong IT security awareness.

Qualifications

• 6 to 8 years hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL and Sybase in production environments.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in IT/CS or related field.
• Experience in enterprise environments; financial services is a plus.
• Strong understanding of IT security practices and ITIL processes.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Act as the highest level of technical escalation for PostgreSQL/Sybase issues.
• Manage incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Lead and delegate technical tasks across the team; promote knowledge sharing.
• Own fault investigation, resolution, and user issue escalations.
• Perform deployments, upgrades, and DR/HA configuration of database systems.
• Participate in infrastructure events (e.g., Power Down, DR Tests).
• Drive root cause analysis for high-severity incidents.
• Maintain compliance with IT standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure documentation is current, clear, and usable.
• Lead automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
