Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking an entrepreneurial trader to lead the physical trading desk in Singapore. The role entails owning a profitable trading book, originating and executing global physical trades, and building deep relationships with suppliers, producers, and end-users.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of physical trading experience, a strong network, and a demonstrated ability to capitalize on arbitrage opportunities in international markets.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of physical trading experience in relevant sectors.
• Proven track record of profitable trading with direct P&L ownership.
• Strong network of suppliers, customers and market participants.
• Ability to originate and execute physical trading transactions independently.
• Understanding of global trade flows, logistics and trade finance.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a physical trading book with full P&L responsibility.
• Originate, negotiate, and execute physical trading transactions globally.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, producers, recyclers, processors, traders, and end-users.
• Identify and capitalize on trading and arbitrage opportunities across international markets.
• Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, logistics arrangements, and payment structures.
• Monitor market trends, pricing movements, and supply-demand fundamentals.
• Manage commercial risks and ensure successful execution of transactions.
• Expand the firm's customer and supplier network while developing new trade flows and business opportunities.
