Job summary

YP SG PTE LTD is seeking a motivated Junior Trader to join our growing team in Singapore. This hands-on role offers learning opportunities and clear ownership to develop into a full commercial function within the physical base metals business.

The role involves owning regional market activities, supporting senior traders, and building relationships with customers and suppliers while monitoring market dynamics and managing risk. Travel within the region is expected as part of the development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in commodity trading, trade operations, or a related area (metals experience is a plus).
• Strong numerical and analytical skills; proficient in Excel.
• Clear communicator, comfortable working with counterparties across cultures and time zones.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Own and develop an assigned market or region, identifying and securing new sales opportunities.
• Support senior traders in sourcing, pricing, and executing physical metal trades.
• Monitor market prices (LME, regional premiums), freight rates, and industry news, and prepare regular market updates.
• Build and maintain long term relationships with customers, suppliers, and service providers.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, finance, and Head Office in Korea on trades, shipments, payments, and documentation.
• Track positions, P&L, and credit exposure, and assist with risk management and hedging activities.
• Contribute to market research and identify new business opportunities in the region.
• Independently price, negotiate, and close physical metal trades with customers.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers, end-users, and distributors in your market.
• Monitor market prices, freight rates, and industry developments, and use these insights to shape your trading strategy.
• Manage your positions, P&L, and credit exposure in line with company risk policies, including hedging where required.
