Selby Jennings is assisting a leading petrochemicals trading client based in Singapore. The role focuses on physical trading, market development, and origination across a broad range of petrochemical products within a dynamic trading environment.

The successful candidate will manage price exposure, develop market intelligence tools, and collaborate with operations teams to ensure efficient post-trade execution in a fast-moving international setup.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of trading experience in petrochemicals.
• Exposure to regional market dynamics in petrochemical segments.
• Familiarity with chemical logistics and ISO tanks, drums, shipments.
• Established industry network to originate business opportunities.
• Strong interest in physical trading and market origination; growth into a larger role.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Self-driven and entrepreneurial; able to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and commodity trading systems.
• Ability to work in an international, multicultural organization.
• Strong English; Asian language skills advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Analyze supply-demand fundamentals, trade flows, and market trends to identify opportunities.
• Formulate and execute market development plans for new trading initiatives.
• Develop relationships with producers, consumers, distributors, and counterparties.
• Execute physical petrochemical transactions under spot and long-term contracts.
• Expand third-party trading activities and support asset-backed strategies.
• Manage price exposure through hedging and develop trading models.
• Own the commercial performance and profitability of the trading portfolio.
• Collaborate with market analysis to enhance forecasting and pricing models.
• Coordinate with operations and logistics for post-trade execution.
• Identify, negotiate, and execute profitable trade opportunities with key partners.
• Work with risk management to monitor positions and compliance.
• Engage with related commodity desks to leverage market intelligence.
