Job summary

Dyson Operations Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Senior Motor Drives Engineer to apply expertise in electrical machines design, modelling and simulation to deliver motor drives solutions for next-generation Dyson technologies.

You will work within the RDD team to translate requirements into milestones and design motor control algorithms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust production testers and successful industrialization.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or numerate discipline.
• 3+ years developing motor control algorithms for single-phase or three-phase motors.
• Knowledge of electrical machines, motor control, power electronics, and sensing technologies.
• Motor control simulation skills with MATLAB SIMULINK, SIMSCAPE, SPICE tools, or Embedded Coder.
• FEA knowledge for electrical machines.
• Statistical analysis of data from experiments and production tests.
• Strong teamwork and communication to bridge cross-functional teams.
• Ability to report progress in meetings and produce high-quality documentation.
• Experience planning, obstacles handling, and working within an Agile framework.

About the role

Dyson offers a unique opportunity for talented individuals to join its Research, Design and Development (RDD) function in Singapore as a Senior Motor Drives Engineer. He/she will be applying his/her skills and experience in Electrical Machines Design, and Modelling and Simulation to deliver Motor Drives solution to our next generation Dyson technologies and products. You will be working as part of larger project team and some of your tasks could include:

• Support and deliver from design phase until industrializing phase.
• Translate requirements into clear deliverables at each stage of the project milestones.
• Design, develop, document and implementation of motor control algorithm.
• Simulate and test motor controls and electromagnetic designs.
• Support design, commissioning and troubleshooting of complex production testers.
• Work with cross teams and external vendors for engineering design work.

About you

• Degree in engineering or numerate discipline or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in developing motor control algorithm and electromagnetic part of single phase or three phase motor;
• Has knowledge of wide range of aspects in electrical machine, motor control, power electronics, and analog-digital sensing technologies.
• Has motor control simulation skill with MATLAB SIMULINK, SIMSCAPE, SPICE tools, and or code generation tools such as embedded coder.
• Has knowledge in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of electrical machine.
• Has statistical analysis skills on data from both experiment and production test log.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to be able to form a bridge between multiple function teams.
• Able to clearly report progress in meetings together with producing a high standard of documentation.
• Experience of planning, managing obstacles, and developing within an Agile framework.
