Job summary

ST Engineering Marine Ltd. seeks a seasoned Project Manager to lead contracts for new-build shipbuilding, from planning to delivery. You will ensure safety, timeliness, budget adherence and quality while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders and mentoring project teams.

Responsibilities include risk pre-emption, scope definition, resource planning, progress tracking and change management. A strong PM background with government project exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Min degree in engineering/naval architecture/business
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Project management experience is required
  • Engineering Knowledge
  • Production / Manufacturing process
  • Commercial / Financial budgeting control
  • Ship Repair Manager (SRM) certification is desired
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is desired
  • Previous experience managing Government projects is desired

Responsibilities

  • Leads and drives the planning and execution of contracts for new-build shipbuilding.

  • Delivering project key outcomes: safely, timely, within budget and good quality.
  • Engaging stakeholders throughout the project life cycle to ensure alignment between business, sponsor, stakeholders and delivery team.
  • Providing mentorship and guidance to the project team.
  • Pre-empting project risk and planning contingencies using experience.
  • Formulating solutions for business problems and value drivers.
  • Defining scope and desired outcomes, determining delivery approach with required resources, timeline and budget.
  • Planning detailed resource-based project plans showing dependencies and delivery roles.
  • Driving a cross-functional team to deliver to plan and budget.
  • Tracking progress against plan and budget, managing scope through change control.
  • Identifying and managing risks and issues to keep delivery on track.
  • Reporting progress to management with key deliverables.
  • Understanding business drivers and impacts and implementing change management plans.
  • Maintaining a collaborative environment to motivate the team and foster high performance.
  • Cost control by monitoring expenditures and pursuing variation orders.

To lead and drive the planning and execution of contracts for new-build shipbuilding

  • Setting up the project or programme up for success by following the Project/Programme Management processes and standards and ensuring delivery excellence in all aspects.
  • Delivering project key outcomes; Safely, timely, within budget and good quality.
  • Actively engaging stakeholders throughout the Project life cycle ensuring alignment between the business, the project sponsor, the stakeholders and the delivery team(s).
  • Overall responsibility of the project team - to provide mentorship and guidance
Responsibilities
  • Leveraging on experience to pre-empt project risk and plan for contingencies.
  • Utilizing problem solving skills to formulate solutions for business problems and value drivers,
  • To clearly define scope and business outcomes, determine delivery approach with required resources, timeline assessment and within budget constraints.
  • Proper planning of detailed resource-based project plans which show dependencies and defined delivery roles. To also continuously monitor and update the plan accordingly.
  • Delivery- assess the risks, feasibility, opportunities, and business impacts of various solution options and motivate and drive a cross functional team (internal and external) to deliver to plan and budget.
  • Tracking- track project progress against plan and budget, manage project scope through a change control process.
  • Risk and Issue management- Identify and manage risks and issues to keep delivery on track, mitigating risks and making interventions to remove project blockers or escalation early for support in resolution.
  • Reporting- Consistently report progress to management supported by key deliverables.
  • Impacts- Understand the drivers behind the business requirements and expectations, identify business impacts and ensure an appropriate change management plan is in place to address how the changes will impact business stakeholders.
  • Team- Maintain a collaborative working environment where the team is motivated to deliver and actively develop the culture of a high performing team.
  • Cost Control - To control the project expenditures within allocated budget and address any variances, tracking and pursuing Variation Orders in a timely manner
Requirements
  • Min Degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture or Business
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience
  • Proficient in using MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 will be an advantage
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Project Management experience is required
