Job description

As Project Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and supervision of shipbuilding projects from inception through to completion.

Play a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, procurement, production, and quality assurance to facilitate seamless project progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation specific to shipbuilding initiatives.
  • Manage project execution by coordinating activities, tracking progress, and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Lead risk management efforts, identifying potential issues and implementing effective mitigation strategies to minimise impact on project delivery.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with internal teams, external contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely resolution of challenges.
  • Oversee procurement activities to secure necessary materials and services, ensuring compliance with quality standards and contractual agreements.
  • Conduct regular project status reviews and prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients, highlighting progress and any critical concerns.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental practices are integrated into project workflows and adhered to at all times.
  • Promote continuous improvement by evaluating project outcomes and applying lessons learned to future initiatives.
Requirements
  • Possess at least 8-10 years proven experience in project management within the marine or shipbuilding industry, ideally working on complex engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes, standards, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and diverse teams effectively.
  • Proficient in project management tools and software, capable of generating detailed project schedules and reports.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, enabling clear dialogue with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage budgets, contracts, and supplier relationships with precision and professionalism.
  • Committed to upholding safety regulations and fostering a culture of compliance and responsibility on site.
  • Relevant project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Proficient in using MS Office suite
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 will be an advantage
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Project Management experience is required
