Job summary

MINDEF is seeking a candidate to coordinate building and infrastructure (BI) maintenance and support, working with DIS, DSTA, the IFM Contractor and other stakeholders to ensure BI readiness and reliability. The role involves supervision, testing, and planning to establish a sustainable BI upkeep regimen.

The ideal candidate has engineering or facilities management education and at least 5 years of facilities maintenance experience, with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Job description

What the role is:

You will support the coordination of building and infrastructure (BI) maintenance and support requirements, working in close collaboration with Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) entities, the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), the Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) Contractor, and other key stakeholders.

What you will be working on:

• Manage administrative clearances for maintenance contractors and provide on-site supervision to verify the quality of work
• Conduct testing and inspection of completed BI works to ensure standards are met
• Participate in maintenance planning sessions with the IFM Contractor to establish a holistic and sustainable BI upkeep regimen
• Issue work and service orders, ensuring all tasks are completed satisfactorily and according to the established schedule, and carry out acceptance of completed work

Challenges

• Balancing competing demands between critical infrastructure maintenance needs and ongoing operational requirements to ensure BI systems remain ready
• Aligning maintenance schedules across multiple service providers and stakeholders to resolve conflicting priorities and achieve timely decisions for execution
• Building and sustaining credibility and trust with senior leadership through clear, concise and data-driven communication, supported by demonstrable financial stewardship and sound decision-making
• Coordinating emergency resource deployment, assessing impacts and providing recommendations for timely decision-making to ensure operational continuity and system resilience

What we are looking for:

• Education in Engineering, Facilities Management, Mechanical, Civil, or a related field is preferred
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance and management
• Technical knowledge of BI systems, their operations and maintenance requirements
• Resourceful and meticulous, with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, and the ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
• Experience in raising work orders and purchase orders will be an added advantage
