Job summary

GovTech in Singapore is seeking an Engineering Manager / Staff Software Engineer to shape technical direction for large-scale public sector systems. You will lead design, delivery and governance across one or more products, partnering with agencies to realise the Smart Nation vision.

Expect hands-on architecture, mentoring, and collaboration across cloud, backend, frontend, and data layers, with a focus on reliability, security, and scalable performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of development experience and 2+ years coaching developers.
• Hands-on across the technology stack: infrastructure, client side, back end, performance, data.
• Experience in Agile, modular design, Software automation, CI/CD, TDD, and Pair Programming.
• Experience with modern full-stack web technologies; preference for Next.js/React.js and Java/TypeScript on the backend; cloud familiarity (Azure/AWS) and Docker/Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Define engineering vision and strategy aligning with organizational goals.
• Guide architectural directions, and maintain engineering practices and tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver products end-to-end.
• Mentor engineers, support performance and growth, and participate in recruitment for senior roles.
• Drive reliability, security, and scalability across teams.
