Job summary

Mitsui Chemicals Asia Pacific, Ltd. in Singapore is seeking an experienced Engineer to maintain, troubleshoot and repair E&I equipment at the production plant. You will supervise E&I contractors, plan maintenance activities and ensure safe, compliant operations.

Responsibilities include performing engineering studies, managing spares, training junior engineers, controlling costs, and ensuring risk assessments for all E&I work. Rotational postings between Jurong Island sites may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 5+ years in E&I maintenance.
• Diploma holders with more experience will be considered.
• Experience in chemicals/petrochemicals is advantageous.
• Knowledge in PLC or DCS is preferred.

Job description

Reporting to Plant Electrical & Instrument (E&I) Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing E&I equipment for production plant, managing E&I contractors and ensuring all E&I maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and safely in compliance with local regulations and plant HSE requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and schedule all maintenance works, including work and safety procedures, labour & equipment, spare parts and material requirements.
• Manage site E&I contractors and ensure daily, periodical and shutdown maintenance works are carried out in safe, timely and efficient manner.
• Carry out engineering studies of E&I works in modifications, revamping or upgrading of plant facilities to reduce plant trouble.
• Carry out technical investigation of plant problems, evaluate findings and recommend countermeasures or propose new ideas to enhance reliability of E&I system and equipment.
• Ensure implementation of Risk Assessment for all E&I work activities and promote safe and healthy workplace to contractors.
• Create, develop and review E&I standard operating procedures and processes.
• Manage and maintain proper maintenance records & reports in accordance to plant site's requirements as well as industrial and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and maintain proper stock level of spare parts inventory.
• Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and contractors to maintain safe work record.
• Ensure maintenance costs are controlled within budget.
• Participate in meetings, audit sessions and activities relating to E&I work.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience in E&I maintenance or engineering
• Diploma holders with more years of experience will be considered
• Experience in chemicals or petrochemicals environment will be advantageous
• Knowledge in PLC or DCS preferred
• Self-driven, independent and resourceful
• Effective team player with good communication and presentation skills
• Possess good analytical thinking and problem solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Able to work overtime whenever required
• Willing to rotate between manufacturing plants in Jurong Island depending on work arrangement
