Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES in Singapore seeks an experienced Senior Engineer to advance additive manufacturing activities across design, development and production support. You will translate engineering concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions and help shape build strategies and workflows.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams to assess manufacturability, apply DfAM principles and drive validation, trials and performance assessments for complex components.

Qualifications

• Degree or Master in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Aerospace or related.
• Senior Engineer typically 3–10 years in related fields; Engineer considered with fewer years.
• Strong fundamentals in design, manufacturing or product development.
• Experience in development, testing or validation activities.
• Able to communicate technical concepts within multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and industrialise components enabled by additive manufacturing technologies.
• Assess the manufacturability of engineering designs and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles to improve component performance, manufacturability and production efficiency.
• Develop LPBF build strategies, process plans and manufacturing workflows for complex components.
• Evaluate the impact of design decisions on manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, quality and production performance.
• Work closely with simulation, design and process-development teams to translate engineering concepts into practical solutions.
• Plan and execute build trials, validation studies and performance assessments.
• Investigate manufacturing challenges and implement design or process improvements where required.
• Contribute to the development of design guidelines, best practices and engineering methodologies for additive manufacturing.
• Support collaborative projects involving industrial and research partners.

Requirements

• Degree or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
• For appointment as Senior Engineer, candidates would typically possess 3-10 years of relevant experience in engineering design, product development, additive manufacturing, manufacturing engineering or related fields. Candidates with fewer years of relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Engineer.
• Strong engineering fundamentals in design, manufacturing or product development.
• Experience in engineering development, testing or validation activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively and work within multidisciplinary teams.
