Job summary

A*STAR RESEARCH ENTITIES in Singapore through ARTC’s Remanufacturing Process Technology Group seeks a Senior Scientist to lead development of advanced welding and additive manufacturing processes for aerospace, energy, maritime, semiconductor and other high-tech sectors.

Responsibilities include optimizing electron beam welding, laser welding and additive manufacturing, directing industry-driven R&D projects, and mentoring junior researchers. This role offers significant industrial impact.

Qualifications

• PhD in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant industrial/research experience in electron beam welding, laser welding, and/or laser-arc hybrid welding.
• Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, materials characterization, and process development.
• Hands-on experimental mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our Advanced E-beam and Arc Joining Team at ARTC’s Remanufacturing Process Technology Group. The successful candidate will drive and support the development of advanced processes, with a focus on Electron Beam Welding, Laser Welding, and Additive Manufacturing for industrial applications in sectors such as aerospace, energy, maritime, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing.

• Lead and contribute to industry-driven R&D projects.

• Track record of industrial project delivery and technology deployment.
