Job summary

HOYA Electronics Singapore is seeking a Development Engineer to join our mask blank production team. You will contribute to pilot line launches and drive deposition process improvements to boost yield and throughput.

The role emphasizes statistics-driven experimental design and data analysis, collaborating with our Japan R&D team for new product setup and support.

Qualifications

• Degree in Material Science or Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of related working experience in semiconductor industry preferred.
• Understanding of thin film metallurgy and deposition processes and equipment (Ion beam deposition, PVD, CVD).
• Experience demonstrating statistical skills in data analysis; JMP, Minitab, DOE and SPC preferred.
• Experience with Ellipsometer, X-ray reflectometry, SEM and EDX.
• Experience in a quality certified environment, e.g. ISO9001, 5S, 8D, lean six sigma.
• Able to work in a cleanroom environment and perform overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Develop yield improvement measures for mask blanks.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for mass production and scalability.
• Manage transfer of newly qualified products to mass production with defined parameter ranges.
• Analyze factors affecting thin film properties in sputter deposition.
• Develop fabrication stages for thin film mask blanks.
• Develop fabrication equipment, process parameters, and monitoring techniques to ensure good yield.
• Create specifications and manufacturing process instructions for all production stages.

Get to Know the Role

We are seeking a Development Engineer to join the Development team in our mask blank factory. Our team focuses on pilot line launching for new products and technology. As a development engineer, you will participate in the development of deposition processes that focus on product transfer, yield, quality, and throughput improvements. We have a strong emphasis on statistics-driven methods for experimental design and data analysis. You will be coordinate with R&D team at our facility in Japan Nagasaka to provide engineering support for all activities and new product set-up.

• Develop yield improvement measures.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for mass production, addressing scalability issues that arise beyond small-scale builds.
• Manage the transfer of newly qualified products to mass production, ensuring process parameters are within defined acceptable ranges.
• Analyse factors that affect thin film properties of mask blanks with regards to sputter deposition technology
• Develop stages of fabrication for thin film mask blanks
• Development of the fabrication equipment, process parameters, parameter limits and monitoring/control techniques to give a good product yield.
• Creation of specifications and manufacturing process instructions for all stages of production.

Skills and Competencies Profile

• Degree in Material Science or Engineering, or a related field.
• Fresh Graduates may apply. 3-5 years of related working experience in semiconductor industry is preferred.
• Understanding of thin film metallurgy and deposition processes and equipment (Ion beam deposition, PVD, CVD)
• Experience in demonstrating statistical skills in data analysis, good knowledge in JMP, Minitab, DOE and SPC are preferred.
• Experience with following tools: Ellipsometer, X-ray reflectometry, SEM and EDX.
• Experience in a quality certified environment, i.e. ISO9001, 5S, 8D, lean six sigma
• Able to work in cleanroom environment and perform overtime as and when necessary.
