Job summary

iKas International (Asia) Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a senior Database Engineer/DBA to lead end-to-end migrations from legacy Oracle to PostgreSQL, optimise performance and ensure security. You will plan phased migrations, validate data integrity with scripts, build monitoring, manage backups, high availability and incident response, and advise application teams on best practices.

Candidates should have 9+ years in production DB engineering, strong Oracle performance skills, PostgreSQL

Qualifications

• 9+ years of hands-on database engineering in production environments.
• Deep Oracle expertise in SQL tuning, indexing, partitioning, replication and performance optimisation.
• Strong PostgreSQL experience, including schema transformation and Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration.
• Proven track record in large-scale data migration, reconciliation, cutover and rollback planning.
• Experience with backup and recovery, high availability, failover and production incident management.
• Familiarity with CDC and replication tools such as GoldenGate, AWS DMS or logical replication.
• Experience with AWS RDS/Aurora and scripting in Python, Bash or similar languages.
• Knowledge of database security, access controls, encryption and data masking.
• Strong documentation and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migration from legacy databases, including extraction, transformation, loading, reconciliation and production cutover.
• Develop scripts and tools to validate data integrity and support rollback.
• Reverse-engineer undocumented business logic from legacy Oracle procedures, triggers and schemas.
• Plan phased migrations and co-existence strategies to minimise downtime and risks.
• Troubleshoot slow queries, optimise SQL, indexing, partitioning and configurations.
• Manage database backup, recovery, high availability, replication, DR and upgrades.
• Build monitoring and alerting, troubleshoot production incidents and conduct root-cause analysis.
• Establish engineering standards and advise application teams on SQL, transactions and performance.
