Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer to own end-to-end data migration, performance tuning, and reliability for critical government systems. You will drive legacy data migration projects, design phased cutovers, and ensure data integrity across Oracle and PostgreSQL estates.

You will implement robust backup/recovery, DR strategies, and secure data handling while working with modern tools like GoldenGate and AWS DMS. Singapore-based, hybrid work supported.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on database engineering/DBA experience on production systems.
• Deep Oracle expertise: tuning, partitioning, replication, and security.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and cross-platform data migration.
• Strong SQL skills and ability to debug across applications and ORMs.
• Experience with CDC/replication tools like GoldenGate or AWS DMS.

Responsibilities

• Own legacy data migration end-to-end: extraction, transformation, loading, reconciliation, and cutover (scripts included).
• Build reconciliation tooling to verify migrated data integrity (row counts, sums, referential integrity).
• Design phased cutovers with dual-write, backfill, and shadow-read approaches; rehearse rollback paths.
• Lead performance tuning: find slow queries, read plans, optimize indexing, and tune configuration.
• Ensure schema changes are safe: online index builds, non-blocking DDL, and controlled migrations.
• Own backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery planning.
