Job summary

SMBC Group in Singapore seeks an experienced credit risk professional to manage a portfolio across leverage, acquisition financing, structured credit, fund finance and real estate financing. You will prepare high-quality risk assessments and concise credit applications for approvers, while maintaining strong stakeholder collaboration and timely submissions.

You will also ensure compliance with regulators and internal policies, support audits and deliver accurate, timely reports to head office

Qualifications

• An experienced professional with 7-10 years of relevant experience in credit risk analysis and portfolio management with leverage/acquisition financing and structured credit as core area of expertise, and exposure to fund finance and/or real estate financing.
• Strong credit judgment with deep expertise in evaluating complex capital structures, collateral pools, and bespoke financing solutions; well‑versed in credit risk assessment, credit controls, and related administrative processes.
• High proficiency in financial modelling, supported by strong numerical and financial acumen; able to interpret financial information, assess and update cashflow projections, and conduct sensitivity analyses.
• Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven track record of effective engagement with senior stakeholders, credit committees, and control functions.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, perform effectively under tight deadlines, and contribute to cross‑functional projects or initiatives.
• Demonstrated strategic mindset, with a focus on portfolio optimisation, portfolio quality, and forward‑looking risk management.

Responsibilities

• Credit Risk Management: Prepare high-quality credit applications, reports, risk assessments for a portfolio including leverage, acquisition financing, structured credit, fund finance and/or real estate financing.
• Distil complex credit structures into clear, concise applications easily understood by approvers.
• Ensure credits and consent requests circulate, are reviewed, and approved timely with high accuracy and minimal errors.
• Maintain strong collaboration with key stakeholders and respond promptly to credit-related queries.
• Engage with CPM team members with regular updates and escalation of material risks as required.
• Control and Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies; support audit/regulatory remediation.
• Prepare for and respond to internal and external audit requests; deliver high-quality reports for regulators and internal stakeholders.
• Collaboration and Teamwork: Demonstrate teamwork while working independently with motivation, ownership and accountability; share knowledge and best practices.
