Job summary

Merck Gruppe - MSD Sharp & Dohme is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to support manufacturing operations in Singapore. You will lead automation activities, provide technical support for manufacturing and utilities, and drive process improvements across DeltaV DCS and related systems.

The role requires strong troubleshooting, SDLC/change control experience and collaboration with Quality, Pharm Technical Operations and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Process Automation in pharma/biotech or manufacturing.
• Hands-on Emerson DeltaV DCS or similar distributed control systems.
• GMP manufacturing experience with SDLC and change control.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience commissioning, qualification, startup and operations.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management.
• Able to work independently across multiple assignments.
• Customer-focused, proactive and result-driven.
• Collaborates across functions to achieve goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage automation activities for new product introductions and tech transfers.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing and utility systems during start-up, commissioning, and operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve control systems and processes.
• Lead complex troubleshooting involving production, equipment and software.
• Perform automation maintenance including PM, backups, and disaster recovery testing.
• Support DeltaV lifecycle management including monitoring and environment maintenance.
• Develop and maintain automation SOPs, tests and validation deliverables.
• Prepare and execute IQ/AOQ test plans and validation docs.
• Execute change controls and ensure timely implementation.
• Support site capital projects and automation initiatives.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering to ensure supply.
• Support investigations and deviations related to automation.
• Participate in HAZOP reviews and actions.
• Support Service Owner responsibilities for DCS/PLC etc.
• Develop automation training materials and coach engineers and operators.
