Job summary

GovTech Singapore is seeking a senior architect to define the technical direction for TradeNet and related platforms. You will own system architecture, lead multi-team coordination, and steer legacy modernization while embracing AI-assisted engineering.

Role emphasizes deep cloud-native expertise, Java/JVM heritage, and strong technical communication. Flexible work arrangements may be available, with a focus on delivering resilient, scalable public-sector solutions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with principal/staff engineer or architect responsibilities.
• Experience as the overall technical lead across multiple teams (5+ teams, 40+ engineers).
• Deep experience with legacy modernisation: decomposing monoliths and migrating off on-prem platforms.
• Strong cloud-native architecture background with API-first design and infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience with AI/LLM-assisted engineering beyond basic code completion.
• Strong written technical communication; architecture documents and RFCs must be actionable.

Responsibilities

• Define the overall system architecture for large-scale platforms; set service decomposition, data architecture, and API contracts.
• Lead legacy modernization strategy, including decommissioning and safe migration paths.
• Write architecture documents, RFCs, and design specs; review code and designs across squads.
• Prototype and validate critical technical approaches before large-scale adoption.
• Guide technical leadership, resolve cross-squad disputes, and balance technical debt with delivery timelines.
• Pioneer AI/LLM-assisted engineering approaches and set standards for AI-generated outputs.
