Job summary

MINDEF in Singapore seeks a seasoned analyst to provide timely assessments of geo-strategic and security developments. You will monitor regional and global events, sense-make these developments within the geo-political context, and conduct research to validate assessments.

Collaboration with stakeholders ensures well-substantiated conclusions, culminating in written assessment papers communicated to decision-makers.

Qualifications

• Experience in research, analysis, or related field, preferably with geo-strategic or security context.
• Strong analytical and sense-making abilities.
• Excellent written English communication skills.

What the role is:

You provide timely and accurate assessments of the geo-strategic and security-related developments to support informed decision-making.

What you will be working on:

• Monitor defence and security-related developments in the region and the world
• Sense-make the developments within the existing geo-political context
• Conduct research and analysis to fill information gaps and validate preliminary assessments
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure assessments are well-substantiated and comprehensive
• Produce written assessment papers to communicate findings and analytical judgementsChallenge(s)
• Maintaining a current and nuanced appreciation of complex geo-strategic and security-related developments across multiple regions simultaneously
• Synthesising diverse and occasionally incomplete information into timely, accurate, and well-reasoned written assessments

What we are looking for:

• Education in International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, or a related field is preferred
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in research, analysis, or a related field, with exposure to geo‑strategic or security‑related subject matter
• Strong analytical and sense‑making skills
• Excellent written communication skills in English
