Job summary

Standard Chartered is seeking a Principal AI Engineer in Singapore to lead the design, build, and operation of data pipelines and infrastructure powering AI and agentic applications. You will own end-to-end data lifecycle from ingestion to retrieval-ready delivery and collaborate with data, engineering, AI, and platform teams to ensure scalable, governed data foundations.

Qualifications

12+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, data platforms or distributed systems.
Experience building enterprise-scale batch and streaming data pipelines.
Strong expertise in Spark, Databricks, and lakehouse architectures.
Knowledge of ontology, semantic modelling, and knowledge graphs.
Experience with unstructured/multimodal data for AI-ready datasets.

Responsibilities

Drive design and evolution of AI data architecture and engineering standards.
Define scalable patterns for ingestion, transformation, storage, and retrieval of data.
Contribute to enterprise data standards, semantic modelling frameworks, and reusable blueprints.
Partner with AI and platform teams to shape the data ecosystem for AI applications.
Develop batch and streaming pipelines on lakehouse platforms and distributed compute.
Ensure data quality, lineage, observability, and governance across lifecycles.
Support ingestion, parsing, enrichment, and normalisation of unstructured content.
Promote data quality, traceability, and reliability across platforms.
