Job summary

Firmus Technologies in Singapore seeks a Principal Data Engineer to own the data architecture across the company. You will set standards, patterns, and tech choices for streaming telemetry, data lakes, and AI-native layers, while guiding governance and security across the data platform.

You will stay hands-on on the hard problems, lead architectural reviews, and mentor engineers as the organisation scales its AI-driven infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
• 10+ years in data engineering or data architecture with platform-level decisions.
• Most senior data engineer/architect previously, owning architecture.
• Deep end-to-end data architecture: ingestion, storage, transformation, governance.
• Experience designing large-scale data platforms across regions.
• Production experience with time-series/telemetry pipelines at high ingest rates.
• Experience with various storage patterns and data governance.
• Proficient in Python and SQL with Spark.
• Experience with Airflow and dbt; data quality testing.
• Kubernetes experience with bare-metal infrastructure.
• Experience delivering data governance under SOC 2 Type 2 / ISO 27001.
• Willing to travel overseas occasionally.
• Clear and effective written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Data Architecture & Technology Strategy: define patterns, standards, and tech choices.
• Platform Build & Operations: hands-on real-time and AI data pipelines, storage, and BI tooling.
• Governance, Quality & Compliance: enforce data contracts, lineage, and access control.
• Technical Leadership: conduct reviews, set engineering standards, mentor teams.
• Stakeholder & Customer Interface: present decisions to CTO and leadership.
