Job summary

Yellow Ribbon is seeking a Youth Worker to act as the first point of contact for student incidents during curriculum time, assess needs, and deploy de-escalation strategies to safeguard well-being.

The role involves collaborating with Year Heads and the Educational Support Committee to support Tier 2 students, mentor where needed, and provide ongoing follow-up and progress reporting to staff.

Responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for incidents and calls during curriculum time.
• Assess students’ needs and well-being.
• Implement immediate de-escalation strategies to ensure students’ psychological and physical well-being.
• Provide support to students during meltdowns and reintegration back to class when possible.
• Engage students to build trust and rapport.
• Conduct proactive outreach to students who may benefit from additional support.
• Collaborate with Year Heads, Subject Head of Student Well-being and Educational Support Committee to support Tier 2 students.
• Mentor students identified by ESC and/or Case Management Team.
• Offer long‑term check‑ins and support after incidents as guided by SMT or SH/SWB.
• Provide progress reports to SH/SWB and heads to aid future intervention design.
• Escalate rising concerns to SH/SWB or to HOD/SM and SH/SM if critical and urgent.
