Job summary

Hougang Secondary School is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support daily practical lessons and meal preparations in the school kitchens. You will prepare, portion and distribute ingredients, assist with weekly orders, and help maintain hygiene and safety across kitchens, office areas and storage.

The role requires at least one year of kitchen experience, familiarity with food safety practices, and good teamwork and time-management in a busy educational setting.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in school or commercial kitchens.
• Knowledge of food safety and handling is preferred; Level 1 course preferred.
• PSLE pass is preferred.
• Good organisation, time management, communication and teamwork in a busy kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion and distribute ingredients before daily practical lessons.
• Assist weekly ingredient orders, receive deliveries and verify quantities and quality.
• Label and store ingredients, monitor temperatures and rotate stock.
• Check inventories of ingredients, utensils, equipment and supplies in kitchens and offices.
• Inspect and clean utensils and equipment; report defects to the teacher-in-charge.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and safety of kitchens and storage areas.
• Provide basic administrative support for teachers' activities.
