About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Safety Coordinator to join our HG Works team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing workplace safety and health (WSH) compliance on our landed house construction and renovation projects. You will ensure that all site activities adhere to MOM regulations, company safety policies, and industry best practices, fostering a culture of safety across all our prestigious projects .
Key Responsibilities
Site Safety Management & Inspections
- Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify unsafe acts and conditions on landed property construction sites, including scaffolding, excavations, rebar installation, concreting, and roofing works .
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with safe work procedures and enforce site safety rules .
- Coordinate and monitor corrective actions for safety violations and hazards .
Risk Assessment & Permit-to-Work
- Assist in the preparation, review, and implementation of Risk Assessments (RA) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP) .
- Administer the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system for high-risk activities such as working at height, hot work, and lifting operations .
- Participate in hazard identification and risk control measures .
Safety Training & Documentation
- Conduct safety orientation and induction for new employees, workers, and subcontractors .
- Organize toolbox meetings and safety briefings specifically adapted to landed house hazards (e.g., falling tools, narrow staircases, public interaction) .
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, risk assessments, training matrices, and SEC(K)/CoreTrade documentation for foreign workers .
Incident Investigation & Emergency Preparedness
- Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences; prepare root cause analysis reports and recommend preventive measures .
- Coordinate emergency response drills, including fire evacuation, first aid response, and rescue from height .
- Ensure emergency equipment is maintained and accessible .
Liaison & Coordination
- Liaise with site supervisors, subcontractors (tiling, roofing, M&E), and homeowners to ensure safety without compromising project progress .
- Attend site coordination meetings and safety committee meetings .
- Assist during inspections and audits conducted by clients or authorities .
Requirements
Mandatory Certifications:
- Valid Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (Level B), also known as the Safety Coordinator Training Course (SCTC) certificate .
- Valid Work at Height Course for Assessors (WAH Assessor) certificate .
- Valid First Aid + CPR certification .
- BCSS (Building Construction Supervisor Safety Course) certificate is also highly preferred .
Experience & Education:
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of relevant experience as a Safety Coordinator in Singapore's construction industry .
- At least 1 to 2 years of direct experience on Singapore landed house or residential construction projects (bungalow, terrace, semi-detached) is essential .
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Workplace Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Diploma holders with strong site experience will be considered .
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong working knowledge of the WSH Act, CP 79, SS 506, and MOM/BCA regulations applicable to landed housing construction .
- Familiarity with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Risk Assessment (RA), and Method Statements (MS) .
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to train workers from diverse nationalities .
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications for reporting and documentation .
Other:
- Ability to walk multiple landed house sites, climb ladders and scaffolding, and wear full personal protective equipment (PPE) .
- Ability to work alternate Saturdays as required .
