Job summary

ZPMC SOUTHEAST ASIA PTE. LTD. is seeking a Safety Officer with at least 5 years in marine or shipyard environments.

The role requires an Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health, and strong MS Office skills. You will conduct daily safety activities, ensure risk assessments and procedures, and coordinate with supervisors to maintain site safety and housekeeping. Responsibilities include reporting to PSA-stipulated authorities, assisting with audits, drills, and incident investigations,

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of working experience in marine/shipyard.
• Advance Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health is required.
• Computer literacy with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; diligent and hardworking.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety TBM and attendance to Safety Officer.
• Submit weekly safety reports to PSA or as required.
• Assess PTW and equipment readiness for operations (PPE, electrical gear, lifting gear).
• Coordinate with supervisors to maintain housekeeping in site offices and work areas.
• Ensure risk assessments and Safe Work Procedures are in place before work and followed on site.
• Patrol and monitor site areas where teams and OEMs operate.
• Identify hazards and halt work to implement corrective measures when needed.
• Assist Safety Officer with audits, training, drills, incident investigations, etc.
• Inform Safety Officer if other duties require absence from post.
• Inspect fire extinguishers, fall arresters and harness registries; maintain records.
• Join PSA/Safety Officer on safety inspections and follow-up on findings.
• Provide assistance to other teams at different worksites as required.
• Role and conduct cover all PSA ports if necessary.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety TBM (DTQC, ARMG, AftSales) Whatsapp photo of teams and attendance to Safety Officer after TBM.
• Conduct daily inspection and submit a weekly report to PSA by end of the week. (Subject to PSA requirement of submission regularity)
• Assess sections PTW and work equipment conditions that are required to bring to operational area (eg. PPE, electrical sets and tools, lifting gear etc.).
• Coordinate with supervisors to ensure site office area, store and operational working area maintain good housekeeping.
• Ensure all activities have Risk Assessment and Safe Work Procedure prior commence work and their measures are observed on site.
• Patrol and station full time at site operational area (eg. QC, wharves etc.) whenever sections' team and OEMs are performing their activities.
• Identify hazards and initiate corrective measures immediately with team supervisor, when necessary, stop work to explore adequate measures with leaders especially high risk activities or unsafe conditions.
• Coordinate and assist Safety Officer on other safety works (eg. ISO / RM auditing, Safety promotion, STO, training, evacuation drill, incident investigation etc).
• Inform Safety Officer when other work matters require your attention elsewhere that may leave your post at the operational area for some duration.
• Inspect periodic Fire extinguishers, Personal Fall Arrestor & Harness etc. and maintain records / registry.
• Coordinate and join PSA / Safety Officer with safety inspections at the worksite and follow through observation or findings.
• Extend assistance to other teams when is required at other worksite (eg. PPT).
• Role, Duties & Conduct cover all ports of PSA if necessary.
