We are looking for a customer-focused Resident Engineer to provideon-site operational support for customers using Arcfra’s enterprisecloud and hyperconverged infrastructure platform. This hands-on,customer-facing role focuses on stable day-to-day operations,routine service delivery, first-line troubleshooting, and timelyescalation of complex issues. You will work closely with customer ITteams and Arcfra technical teams as a trusted operational interface.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site day-to-day operational support for ArcfraEnterprise Cloud Platform (AECP) environments.
- Perform scheduled health checks, preventive maintenance, platformmonitoring, and operational reporting.
- Monitor alerts, events, capacity utilisation, VM status, storagehealth, and network connectivity.
- Handle standard operational tasks, including VM lifecycleactivities, basic configuration changes, access-related requests,and routine maintenance.
- Perform initial diagnosis for incidents involving compute,virtualization, storage, network, or system services.
- Collect logs, alerts, configuration details, timestamps, andenvironmental information for incident analysis and escalation.
- Escalate complex or high-severity issues to Customer Support,Professional Services, Engineering, or relevant third parties in atimely manner.
- Follow established SOPs, change-management processes,incident-management processes, and customer-site securityrequirements.
- Maintain accurate incident tickets, shift handovers, health-checkreports, change records, and issue-tracking updates.
- Support scheduled maintenance windows, standby support, andincident-response activities when required.
Technical Requirements
- Basic to intermediate Linux administration skills, including usersand permissions, file systems, service and process management, logreview, and CPU, memory, disk, and network resource checks.
- Foundational understanding of virtualization concepts: virtualmachines, hypervisors, templates, snapshots, virtual networking,high availability, live migration, and basic capacity management.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, including IP addressing,subnetting, VLANs, gateways, DNS, routing, and firewall concepts.
- Familiarity with operational troubleshooting tools such as ping,traceroute, nslookup, curl, top, df, free, iostat, and log searchtools.
- Basic understanding of enterprise storage, including RAID, blockand file storage, disk health, capacity utilisation, IOPS,throughput, and latency.
- Ability to accurately execute technical runbooks and standardoperating procedures.
Preferred
- Experience with VMware vSphere, KVM, OpenStack, HCI, private cloud,or enterprise server infrastructure.
- Exposure to monitoring, ticketing, ITSM, CMDB, or alert-managementsystems.
- Familiarity with backup, recovery, VM migration, or basic disasterrecovery procedures.
- Basic Shell scripting or Python automation knowledge.
- Relevant certifications such as VMware VCP, RHCSA, CCNA, HCIA, orequivalent.
Experience and Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,Network Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in IT operations, systems administration,infrastructure support, data centre operations, NOC operations, ortechnical support.
- Fresh graduates with strong Linux, networking, virtualization, ordata-centre internship experience may be considered.
- Experience supporting enterprise customers, working on-site, oroperating in a shift-based environment is advantageous.
