Temasek Laboratories@NTU invites applications for a Research Scientist to advance semiconductor laser diode, photonics, and material-related research. The role focuses on fabricating, characterizing, and analyzing laser diodes and related devices, working in a dynamic NTU setting in Singapore.

The successful candidate will support operations, literature reviews, safety, and reporting, with emphasis on hands‑on fab work, optical simulations, and device characterization.

Qualifications

• PhD degree or Master’s with at least 8 years relevant experience in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with cleanroom processes, including lithography, PECVD deposition, metal deposition, and rapid thermal annealing; optical mask design; optical simulation (BPM or FDTD); and the fabrication and characterization of semiconductor laser diodes/semiconductor photonics/semiconductor material.
• Strong writing skills for writing proposals, reports and publications in good academic journals.

Responsibilities

• To assist with research operations, including the procurement of laboratory supplies, experimental setup, literature reviews, evaluation of product specifications, and establishment of safe work processes.
• To lead the fabrication, characterization, and analysis of laser diodes.
• To support project-related activities, including events, publications, proposal preparation, planning, monitoring, and reporting, as required.
