Temasek Laboratories@NTU, part of Nanyang Technological University Singapore, invites applications for a Research Scientist with a background in semiconductor laser diodes, semiconductor photonics, or related materials research. The role focuses on laser diode fabrication, characterization, and project support.

You will work in a hands-on lab environment, perform lithography, deposition, and optical simulations, contribute to publications and proposals, and ensure safe lab practices.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s in Electrical/ Electronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics or related field.
• Hands-on cleanroom experience with lithography, PECVD, metal deposition and rapid thermal annealing.
• Experience in fabrication/characterization of semiconductor laser diodes and photonics; strong writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist research operations including procurement, setup, literature reviews and safe-work processes.
• Lead fabrication, characterization and analysis of laser diodes.
• Support project activities, including events, publications, proposal preparation, planning, monitoring and reporting.

Temasek Laboratories@NTU is looking for a candidate to join them as a Research Scientist who has a research background on semiconductor laser diode/semiconductor photonics/semiconductor material. The staff will be involved in semiconductor laser diode related project.

Key Responsibilities

• To assist with research operations, including the procurement of laboratory supplies, experimental setup, literature reviews, evaluation of product specifications, and establishment of safe work processes.
• To lead the fabrication, characterization, and analysis of laser diodes.
• To support project-related activities, including events, publications, proposal preparation, planning, monitoring, and reporting, as required.

Job Requirements

• PhD degree or Master’s with at least 8 years relevant experience in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Prior hands‑on experience with cleanroom processes, including lithography, PECVD deposition, metal deposition, and rapid thermal annealing; optical mask design; optical simulation (BPM or FDTD); and the fabrication and characterization of semiconductor laser diodes/semiconductor photonics/semiconductor material is preferred.
• Good writing skills for writing proposals, reports and publications in good academic journals
