Overview

The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) offers a full range of additive manufacturing services, from design and infrastructure to production and validation. With advanced technologies such as topology optimization, generative design, and bioinspired design, SC3DP creates optimized products using a variety of novel materials and printing processes, including hybrid printing, post-processing, and emerging technologies. Sustainability is a top priority for SC3DP, which offers material development and control services that combine artificial intelligence, big data, and other digital tools for process optimization, as well as non-destructive testing for AM parts. We are looking for a Research Fellow to assist the PI in conducting research specified in a sponsored project. The role will focus on additive manufacturing of metallic components and conduct detailed microstructural and mechanical property studies on the printed parts.

Job Requirements
  • PhD degree in Materials Science & Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 2 years of relevant post-PhD hands-on experience in advanced alloys and their microstructural and mechanical property characterization. Proficiency in unnotched fatigue, fracture toughness, and fatigue crack growth property measurements. Familiarity with Ti and other advanced alloys, experimental characterization of fracture and fatigue and other mechanical properties. Must be highly competent in microstructural characterization techniques such as SEM, TEM, EBSD, nanoindentation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in high level research through a good scientific publication record, especially in standard journals of the research area. At least one or more papers in Acta Materialia as the first author is a must.
  • Good written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated record of outstanding scientific publication record
  • Interpersonal skill (e.g. Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills). Ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels and to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Possesses international experience, with a strong network of contacts in the region.
