Job summary

SPD Singapore is seeking a Healthcare Therapy Assistant for Toa Payoh to support therapy sessions, porter clients between departments, and assist with activities of daily living under the supervision of therapists.

The role emphasizes safety, person-centered care, and collaboration with nurses, therapists, and volunteers to maintain equipment, report concerns, and participate in meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum Secondary education or equivalent.
• WSQ Certificate in Healthcare Support (Nursing Care) or other relevant certificate preferred.
• A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with clients and caregivers from diverse backgrounds; proficiency in additional languages or dialects relevant to client needs will be an advantage.
• Prior experience in caring for clients with dementia is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Porter clients between departments (day care blocks) to the rehab department according to treatment schedule.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of clients at all times and follow safety procedures.
• Provide person-centric model of care in daily operations.
• Monitor clients during treatment to ensure safety.
• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) such as toileting and catheter care if required.
• Assist clients with nursing care or first aid (e.g., wound dressing).
• Prepare clients and therapy equipment prior to therapy sessions.
• Support or conduct routine exercises/group therapy/activities session as formatted by therapists.
• Donning and doffing of prosthetics/orthotics when necessary.
• Provide feedback on clients' behavior and concerns to the therapist.
• Maintain and ensure proper functioning of therapy equipment; report faults promptly.
• Keep department clean and secured at end of day.
• Work with volunteers supporting client activities/sessions.
• Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, in-service and caregiver support programmes.
• Perform other duties as required.
