Job summary

Cengage is seeking a Regional Talent Strategy Partner to advise business groups in Southeast Asia and ANZ from Singapore. The role focuses on talent planning, organizational design, performance management, and employee relations, in close collaboration with HR Centers of Excellence and Legal.

You will translate business priorities into practical talent strategies, influence leaders, and drive workforce planning across the region from the Singapore base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in HR, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HR experience in roles like HRBP, HR Generalist, Talent Partner, or Employee Relations.
• Strong business sense and ability to translate strategy into talent actions.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships, coach leaders, and influence decisions.
• Experience with talent planning, performance management, organizational change, and complex employee relations.
• Strong communication, consultation, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across HR, Legal, and business teams.
• Basic knowledge of country-specific laws and regulations in the region.

Responsibilities

• Function as the partner for business groups within an assigned region, translating priorities into talent strategies.
• Lead talent planning, workforce design, organizational change, performance management, succession planning, and engagement initiatives.
• Coach leaders on talent decisions, development, and team effectiveness.
• Advise leaders on complex employee relations matters and manage investigations with Legal and HR colleagues.
• Handle country-specific onboarding, job changes, and related documentation within the region.

Summary

As part of the Talent Strategy team, the Regional Talent Strategy Partner reports to the leader of Talent Strategy and serves as an advisor to business groups within their assigned region. They build positive relationships with leaders, understand business priorities, and complete talent strategies that improve organizational efficiency and business performance.

Working closely with the Director, Talent Strategy, HR Centers of Excellence, and Legal, this role leads talent planning, organizational change, performance management, employee relations, and key HR initiatives.

***This position will provide HR partnership in the Southeast Asia and ANZ regions and will be based in Singapore***

What you'll do here

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP & TALENT STRATEGY

• Function as the partner for business groups within an assigned region.
• Translate business priorities into practical talent and organizational strategies.
• Support the execution of talent planning, workforce planning, organizational design, and change initiatives.
• Use workforce data and business insights to identify talent needs, risks, and opportunities.
• Influence leaders and recommend solutions that improve business and people outcomes.

TALENT & LEADER SUPPORT

• Coach leaders on talent decisions, performance management, employee development, and team effectiveness.
• Lead annual talent processes, including performance reviews, talent planning, succession planning, compensation planning, and engagement action planning.
• Partner with leaders to attract, develop, engage, and retain critical talent.
• Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence to deliver integrated people solutions.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

• Advise leaders on complex employee relations matters, performance concerns, and policy interpretation.
• Manage investigations and employee matters in partnership with Legal and HR colleagues.
• Identify and mitigate people-related, legal, and organizational risks.
• Recognize trends and recommend broader leadership or organizational actions.
• Handle country specific documentation requests within region related to onboarding, job change, etc.

Skills you will need here

REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5 or more years of progressive HR experience in an HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, Talent Partner, or Employee Relations role.
• Strong business sense and the ability to translate strategy into talent actions.
• Proven ability to build trusted relationships, coach leaders, and influence decisions.
• Experience with talent planning, performance management, organizational change, and complex employee relations.
• Strong communication, consultation, problem-solving, and project management skills.

PREFERRED

• Experience supporting senior leaders in a complex, global, or matrixed organization.
