Job summary

Rajah & Tann Asia seeks an experienced Data Governance Officer to lead regional data governance, protection and management across ASEAN and China. You will develop a robust framework to ensure secure, compliant handling of data aligned with business goals.

Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Technology and Risk to support digital transformation and regional data-sharing initiatives. Oversight of AI usage, cloud solutions and emerging technologies will be required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Law, Information Governance, Information Management, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business or related discipline.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience in data governance, privacy, information management, compliance or cybersecurity.
• Experience across multiple jurisdictions, preferably within ASEAN and China.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, cloud environments and AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a regional data protection compliance framework across client, employee and business data.
• Develop and implement a firm-wide Data Governance Framework with governance structures and accountability.
• Provide governance oversight for the use of firm data in AI tools, analytics platforms, and data-sharing initiatives.
• Oversee data and records retention and disposal programmes in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate cross-border data transfers and regulatory enquiries across ASEAN and China.
