Job summary

WAGO Group, with its R&D Competence Center in Singapore, seeks an experienced Power Electronics Engineer to develop innovative circuit designs for power electronics applications. You will perform design and simulations, select components for cost and reliability, and create schematics with OrCAD and PCB layouts while collaborating with PCB design engineers.

WAGO established an R&D Competence Center in Singapore in 2023 to better meet the increasing global market demand. The new R&D Competence Center operates within the already existing infrastructure in Singapore.

The new R&D Competence Center in Singapore focuses on the business areas of sensor technology and power electronics, which serve the industry, energy, building, and green mobility sectors.

We are looking for someone who enjoys and has experience in Power Electronics.

Scopes and Responsibilities

• Develop innovative circuit designs for power electronics applications.
• Perform circuit design and simulations. Determine the selection of components to ensure cost, performance and reliability requirements.
• Create schematics using OrCAD, BOM and PCB designs (understanding the rules and collaborate with PCB design engineer), coupled with mechanical design.
• Conduct PCB prototype testing to verify performance.
• Troubleshoot circuits to identify and resolve issues that may arise.
• Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to ensure successful product launches. Collaborate with external R&D institutes and universities to develop innovative power electronics solutions.
• Conduct product level testing, troubleshooting, and support in product testing and qualification, including EMC/RFI and product, safety certifications.
• Create technical documents for design and specifications. Stay up-to-date with advancements in power electronics, materials and industry trends

Requirements and Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in power electronics and PCB design.
• Strong knowledge in analog and digital electronics, control theory, EMC, reliability and thermal engineering. Solid theoretical understanding of power electronic converter principles, multi-level converters, magnetic component designs, and wide bandgap power semiconductor devices.
• Familiarity with simulation tools like LTSpice, Matlab/Simulink, PLECS, Labview to facilitate effective design and analysis.Demonstrated experience in new technology development and innovation. Publication in reputable journals is a plus.
• An innovative spirit and enthusiasm for energy-based topics, technologies, and trends.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, with excellent communication skills.
• Self-motivated and proactive work attitude.
• University degree in electronic engineering, power electronics, or a related field.
• Fluent in English, with German language skills as an advantage.
• The ability to create scripts for automated product verification testing is a plus.
