Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and supervise project activities and site works.
  • Support development, R&R, and CAPEX projects.
  • Liaise with end-users, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Prepare tender/RFQ specifications and support tender evaluations.
  • Review designs, schedules, and contractor submissions.
  • Manage resources, budgets, risks, scope changes, and documentation.
  • Ensure projects are safe, on time, and within budget.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, and handover with as-built drawings and manuals.
  • Monitor defect rectification and quality compliance.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair with minimal hospital disruption.
  • Monitor ACMV, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems where applicable.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and business continuity exercises.

Job description

*Please note that the work schedule for this position is 5.5 days/week.

We are looking for a Project Engineer to manage and coordinate facility upgrading, development, renovation, and CAPEX projects within a healthcare environment. The role involves overseeing projects from planning and tendering through execution, commissioning, handover, and defect management, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and supervise project activities and site works.
  • Support development, R&R, and CAPEX projects.
  • Liaise with end-users, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Prepare tender/RFQ specifications, support tender evaluations, and coordinate procurement activities.
  • Review designs, technical proposals, project schedules, and contractor submissions.
  • Manage contractors, project resources, budgets, risks, scope changes, and project documentation.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and completed within agreed timelines.
  • Conduct project meetings, resolve technical issues, and provide regular progress updates to clients and management.
  • Oversee testing, commissioning, handover, and submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and related documentation.
  • Monitor defect rectification works and ensure quality compliance.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair works related to project scope while minimising disruption to hospital operations.
  • Monitor utility and facility systems, including ACMV, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems where applicable.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and business continuity exercises, and undertake ad-hoc assignments as required.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Positive attitude, customer-focused, safety-conscious, and able to multitask effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in healthcare facilities, building services, facilities management, or infrastructure-related projects.
