Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our client procurement team in Singapore. This role will support the efficient sourcing and purchasing of materials and services for a manufacturing environment, ensuring timely supply, effective supplier management, and cost competitiveness.
The successful candidate will work closely with production planning, supply chain, quality, finance, and other stakeholders to maintain material availability, manage supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement across procurement operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with production planning teams to understand material requirements and ensure timely purchasing activities.
- Create and release purchase orders based on system-generated requisitions, ensuring orders are delivered according to requirements.
- Monitor material deliveries against production plans and proactively address potential supply shortages.
- Participate in production meetings to communicate material issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with relevant teams to maintain appropriate raw material targets.
- Track and manage supplier performance, including delivery, quality, and service levels.
- Support supplier negotiations and commercial initiatives to improve purchasing value.
- Review excess and obsolete inventory and support last-time-buy activities to minimise inventory risk.
- Identify opportunities to streamline procurement processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in special projects and other procurement initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, preferably with an MNC.
- Experience in strategic sourcing, cost management, and supplier negotiations.
- Strong supplier relationship management and contract management skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use spend data and market information to support purchasing decisions.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and quality teams.
- Strong commitment to procurement governance, integrity, and compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
