Overview
We are seeking an experienced Purchaser / Operations Coordinator to support procurement and day-to-day operations within the marine and ship supply industry. This role is responsible for managing customer enquiries, coordinating supplier purchases, preparing commercial documentation, and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services to vessels.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to provide efficient operational support while maintaining excellent service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer enquiries and provide timely operational and after-sales support.
- Prepare and process quotations, purchase orders, delivery orders, invoices, and other sales documentation.
- Source products and liaise with suppliers on pricing, availability, delivery schedules, and order fulfilment.
- Coordinate procurement activities to ensure materials and supplies are delivered according to customer requirements.
- Monitor orders from purchase through delivery and resolve operational or logistics issues where required.
- Maintain accurate records of orders, supplier information, and operational documentation.
- Work closely with internal departments to ensure smooth execution of customer orders and projects.
- Participate in team meetings, share operational updates, and contribute to process improvements.
- Handle ad-hoc operational and procurement duties assigned by management.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in procurement, operations coordination, or customer service within the maritime or marine supply industry.
- Experience in ship chandling or marine procurement will be highly preferred.
- Good understanding of marine products, vessel operations, and supplier coordination.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage multiple orders simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Willing to participate in a rotational after-hours standby duty schedule as part of operational support requirements.
