Job summary

DIRECT SEARCH ASIA PTE. LTD. is recruiting for a Procurement & Supply Chain role focused on marine vessels. You will source, evaluate, and procure spare parts, stores, lubricants, and services for ships worldwide, while negotiating terms and managing supplier relationships.

You will coordinate closely with Technical Superintendents and vessel crews, plan for repairs and maintenance, and ensure timely delivery, budgeting, and compliance with procurement policies.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Maritime Studies, Business, or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of relevant marine procurement, technical purchasing, ship management, or maritime experience.
• Good understanding of vessel spare parts, technical stores, marine procurement, and supply chain processes.
• Experience coordinating with Technical Superintendents, suppliers, freight forwarders, and vessel personnel.
• Strong negotiation, organisational, and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; ERP or procurement systems experience is an advantage.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and procure spare parts, technical stores, lubricants, consumables, and marine services for assigned vessels.
• Obtain quotations, evaluate supplier proposals, and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
• Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with company procedures and procurement policies.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effective procurement.
• Work closely with Technical Superintendents and vessel personnel to understand operational and maintenance requirements.
• Support procurement planning for vessel repairs, dry-docking projects, routine maintenance, and emergency requirements.
• Ensure purchased materials and services meet technical specifications and project requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping agents, and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of materials to vessels worldwide.
• Monitor shipment progress, resolve delivery issues, and coordinate customs clearance and shipping documentation where required.
• Monitor vessel inventory levels and support effective stock management to minimise shortages and excess inventory.
• Ensure procurement activities are carried out within approved budgets and recommend cost-saving opportunities where appropriate.
• Track procurement expenditures and support budget monitoring activities.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier documentation.
• Prepare monthly procurement and purchasing reports for management.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives relating to procurement processes and supplier performance.
